How to Be a Hepburn in a Hilton World
How to: DIY Ornaments

I have to give credit where credit is due... I got this idea from an episode of Barney. My daughter thought these ornaments were so cute so we decided to attempt to make our own. It turned out to be a fun, easy project (with the exception of the searing hot glue gun and the sharp pinecones - you should probably refrain from letting your little ones chomp on those). It's also extremely affordable, and makes a nice homemade gift for friends and family.

  1. Gather up some pinecones. If you don't have a Douglas fir to speak of in your backyard, hit up a craft store, or possibly even Wal-Mart. While you're there, get a bunch of brown pipe cleaners, googley eyes, red noses, and pretty ribbon.
  2. Twist the pipe cleaners around your fingers to make "antlers."
  3. Fire up the ol' glue gun and get ready to do some sticking.
  4. Start by placing the eyes near the upper middle part of the pinecone. Next, glue the red nose close to the tip of the pinecone. Poke the pipe cleaners into the pinecone on top and secure with a dab of glue. Then, finish with the ribbon at the very top.

Voila! I hope you and yours have a blessed Christmas. See you in 2012!
