How to: Outdoor Thanksgiving |
My husband actually inspired this week's how-to. He decided it would be fun to take advantage of the beautiful weather and lovely fall foliage (my words, not his. I believe his exact words were "it's not that cold out yet, plus we could have the deep fryer right on the deck next to the table."). So we came up with a concept for a potential outdoor Thanksgiving. It sounds great in theory, let's just hope the deck doesn't catch on fire.

Keep it Natural
Instead of buying new centerpieces, use elements from the great outdoors. Sprinkle leaves down the length of a tablerunner, intersperse pinecones throughout the dishes (watch out, they're poky!), or fill vases with acorns and berries.

Keep it Warm
If you live in a climate where temps are already frigid, break out some space heaters to keep guests comfy and cozy. Or bring in a chimnea or portable fire pit to entertain as well as warm: you can make S'mores a new Thanksgiving traditon!

Keep it Classy
Just because it's outdoors doesn't mean it has to be gross. Use an off-white tablecloth to keep things formal and nice. Have your table set up around the pool or patio along with lots of vanilla votive candles and white twinkle lights. As long as you create a space that you'd be comfortable in, your guests will have fun, too.

family to yours, have a safe and restful Thanksgiving!
